Sierra Family Charity organisation feeds over 100 street beggars and disabled persons in Freetown

Over 100 street beggars and persons with disabilities benefited from food distribution undertaken by the Sierra Family Charity organisation on the 2nd June 2020. The donation took place at Kissy Road in the eastern part of Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the Sierra Family Charity organisation has been engaging various communities on the use of face masks, hand washing and ensuring social distancing, which are key measures in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The charitable organisation has gone beyond the awareness campaign and sensitisation to now support vulnerable or poor people with basic food supplies. The Chairman of Sierra Family Charity Organisation, Ibrahim Kalokoh aka DJ Kallox told this medium that his organisation “felt the need to support the poor people with the little they can afford during this difficult time.” He further said that similar donations would be made to other vulnerable communities in Freetown.

Daddy Hassan Kamara is the Secretary General of the organisation, he said “they are joining the government in the fight against the Coronavirus disease.” He considers his organisation as a partner in development.

The Manager of Sierra Family Charity Organisation, Victor David Conteh popularly known as Vicky Dave also said that “the fight against COVID-19 requires concerted efforts from all organisations.” He promised that his organisation will continue to stand by the government and people of Sierra Leone in the fight against COVID-19, and also called on other organisations to promote the lives of vulnerable people in the country.
