Sierra Leoneโs most decorated Disk Jockey โ Ibrahim Kalokoh, popularly known as DJ Kallox has unveiled his spectacular 4 storey home in Freetown on Friday, February 17, 2023. This opening ceremony attracted a galaxy of celebrities from the various sectors of the entertainment industry of Sierra Leone, especially the music sector.
The revered DJ completed a four storey/apartment building within a span of one year, commencing in February 2022. An achievement worthy of praises and celebrations for the finest Sierra Leonean DJ, who has dedicated his time and energy to promoting Salone music for over two decades.
DJ Kallox revealed that the house was built from his earnings in playing and promoting Salone music.
“I want to express my appreciation to the entertainment industry for the support and love towards me. I’m grateful to God.”
“I built this house from playing Salone music. I have no other job or business that I do for a living, playing music, especially Salone music, has been my source of livelihood for about 20 years.”
He further expressed his appreciation for artists who supported his building project, after suffering from flooding in the past years.
This auspicious event was graced by top entertainers, including DJs, artistes, the media, etc. Many paid tributes to Kallox for his contributions to the growth of Salone music and his achievements over the years.
Apart from multiple awards, honours and recognitions in his name, DJ Kallox has achieved a lot as a Sierra Leonean DJ. He is the founding President of the Sierra Leone DJs Union (SLeDU), the first Sierra Leonean DJ hired to play at a private function in Nigeria for a $2,000 fee. He now owns a car, a luxury speed boat worth $25,000 and a mega four apartment house, containing 11 rooms โ the first Sierra Leonean DJ to achieve such.
DJ Kallox is the Entertainment Director of Citizens Radio and also the Station Manager of Eagle Radio. He has the biggest playing time for playing 100% Salone music on both Citizens Radio and Eagle Radio. On his daily โSalone Music Hot Spotโ, he spends on average 4 hours on every Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on Citizens Radio, and 5 hours on Wednesdays at Eagle Radio, plus his iconic 6 hours โTok Bot Salone Musicโ program on Citizens Radio every Sundays. Put together, DJ Kallox spends over 27 hours in a week playing Salone music in addition to his usual promotions and artiste management.
His craft, his professionalism and dedication has earned him more honours than any other DJ in the country. He is the recipient of major awards and honours across the country, including the National Entertainment Awards (NEA), the Original Top Best Squad (TBS), the Icons of the East Award, the SLAAM award, among others.
He remains the Crรจme de la crรจme in the spinning industry, with massive wealth of experience and professionalism, spanning nearly 2 decades, from SLBS Radio (now SLBC radio), to Citizens Radio, to Eagle FM.
