We often think that a good subject and a good camera alone actually makes a good photograph. Well, the qualities that make up a good photograph go beyond just having a good subject and camera.

“A good is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it. It is in one word, effective.” – Irving Penn
A good photograph should have the ability or features to communicate a message. And that is what is seen in the photograph above, which sends out message of hope during the COVID-19 pandemic in Sierra Leone. The photograph is the work of Facelift Media that simply want to send a unique and clear message of hope.
Seen in the photograph, is a man holding a ruffled Sierra Leone flag with mask on, and looking forward, in optimism for a better future. The photograph communicates that Sierra Leone will rise again after the current COVID-19 struggle.
These photographs pass the test of good photographs, with good light or exposure, good composition, good timing and more. Despite being edited, the photo still has the qualities and abilities to communicate a message.
