‘LAFF OVERDOSE’ WITH OGA WORWOR – #BEHAVE EDITION AT FAMILY KINGDOM

One towering figure you can’t skip mentioning in contemporary Sierra Leone ‘Stand-Up Comedy’ is Oga Worwor, an outstanding jester, a professional rib cracker. He roasts everyone he finds within his views. His stage name – ‘Oga Worwor’ is a misnomer, he is a handsomely cute dude.

He has built his own brand and empire in the shortest possible time, making him one of the most sought after comedians in town. He has rocked and thrilled audiences on different venues, sharing big stages with other Sierra Leonean and foreign acts. His knack for the art is amazing, with the level of professionalism he puts in his work.

Now, Oga Worwor is coming up with his first ever staged-show titled – ‘LAFF OVERDOSE’, #BEHAVE Edition at the Family Kingdom in Aberdeen Freetown, on the 7th December 2019. ‘Laff Overdose’ will summarise your 2019 journey in few hours. It will relieve you from your perpetual year-long stress.

Mohamed Lansana Marrah popularly known as Oga Worwor was born in Freetown on the 27th April 1987 to parents, Lansana Marrah and Boor-Musu Marrah (late), with an Islamic background. Oga Worwor started his primary education at the Services Primary in Benguma Barracks and the Wilberforce Army Municipal Primary School before he was admitted at the Collegiate Secondary School. After he successful sat to the BECE exams, he was then admitted at the St. Edwards Secondary School. Mohamed Lansana Marrah is a final year student of the Institute of Public Administration and Management  (IPAM), pursuing a Bsc in Business Administration.

Comedy has always been imbeded in him since his primary school days, but started his professional career as a comedian in 2010. He worked for Universal Radio 98.7 FM in the popular radio comedy program ‘The Laff Doctors’ from 2010 to 2013, alongside Rumpel, Father Bless, Succulent, and others. He was also a guest at the comedy program ‘Laff With AYV’ on AYV Radio, with the likes of Desmond Benya, Agnes Bockarie and others.

Oga Worwor was part of the BBC Media Action radio drama ‘Mr Plan Plan’, and worked for the Talking Drum Studio’s popular radio drama ‘Bush Wahala’ where he exhibited his skills and proficiencies.

Oga Worwor was mentored by a comedy legend Franklin Williams, popularly known as ‘Rumpel’. “Rumpel has taught me so many good things in life…,” he says. He sees Rumpel as a talented and God fearing comedian.

Oga Worwor says his comedy career is an inspiration to him and his community. He has involved in several nationwide tours, campaigning on non violence, ebola and HIV sensitisation, etc. He was also part of the award winning comedy skit titled ‘Political Tolerance’ by Mastamind  (SL) Ltd in 2018. The skit was preaching against violence in the 2018 elections, where the featured acts mimicked the presidential candidates. Oga Worwor played the role of the current President, President Julius Maada Bio. He feels blessed to be part of it. “The Political Tolerance skit was a huge success for me as a comedian. I want to take this opportunity to thank the CEO of Mastamind Lawyer Mohamed Muctarr Sow and the entire Mastamind team,” he said. Adding that “Working with Mastamind was a turning point for me in my comedy career. After the skit we did the comedy Political Debate with Mastamind, which earned me 5 national award nominations in just one year. They included the National Entertainment Award, Eminence Africa Entertainment Awards, Sierra Leone DJs Union Awards, etc.

Oga Worwor has shared big stages with other top comedians like Desmond Benya, Kindo, Richie Obama, Yemata and more. He has performed in major events across the country. He performed at State Lodge for Former President Ernest Bai Koroma and wife, the Mastamind’s  ‘Salone Laff Festival’, ‘Laff En  Jam with Kindo Armani, Richie Obama, the Son of Aunt Hawa, the 2019 NEA Launch at the Golden Tulip Kimbima Hotel, the 2018 Housemates Salone Show, the 2019 Premier League Board Awards night at Bintumani,   and more.
