The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that it has disqualified São Tomé and Principé for using an ineligible player, after losing a case filed against them by Mauritius. This decision means that Mauritius, who were on standby for Group A, will now automatically replace São Tomé and Principé for the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Group A is now complete with Nigeria, Sierra, Guinea Bissau and Mauritius, as first sets of qualifiers take place between May ending and early June, 2022.
