United Africa Wear unveils its latest sports jerseys in Freetown

In a press briefing held at the YACAN Centre, Fort Street in Freetown, the management team of the United Africa Wear (UAW) officially unveiled its latest sporting wears on Wednesday 4th March 2020. The unveiling and launching ceremony of these jerseys was graced by top personalities from the media, business, sporting and many other fields across Sierra Leone.

Mohamed Basiru Sanusi also known as Ambassador Bash, a renowned media personality from Media One Centre, was the Chairman of the ceremony. He described the UAW products as ‘authentic and with high quality’, manufactured in Europe. He went on to describe the CEO of UAW, Afize Mohamed as a top Sierra Leonean model and young entrepreneur who has positively influenced and motivated young people in his country.

The latest product launched by the company is a football jersey branded in Sierra Leonean colours and identity, notably is a lion crest on the top left of the front jersey. Social media went abuzz when the latest design was published. And it has been endorsed by top celebrities.

The jersey is now available for sale at 16A Goderich Street, Freetown Sierra Leone or at www.unitedafricawear.com, at a cost of Le 250,000, and deliveries can be made to other parts of the world.

The Chief Executive Officer of UAW, Mohamed Afize is a UK based Sierra Leonean model and businessman. Afize won the 2018 National Entertainment Awards (NEA) as Model of the Year. He is a fitness coach, and he has recently hit the runway at the London Fashion Week, making him the first Sierra Leonean model to do so.

The Media Coordinator of UAW, Mohamed Jamin explained that the UAW brand has evolved since 2016 and has continued to maintain its quality ever since.

United Africa Wears are the designers of the Johansen Football Club jerseys for the 2019/2020 football season.

Ambassador Bash also reiterated that they are looking forward to be contracted to design and produce jerseys for more sporting disciplines, especially for the national teams, for both the players and the fans. He said, “this is the first time a Sierra Leonean company or clothing line is taking the lead in the fashion world.”

The event was climaxed by the symbolic unveiling of the UAW latest jerseys by a Sports Ambassador, Junior Bio. He calls on all Sierra Leoneans to embrace the brand as a Sierra Leonean brand. He also assured the management team that he is in talks with several sporting disciplines for a possible partnership with the brand.
