Senegal and Mali to play WAFU Zone A Female Championship final in Makeni City

Senegal and Mali have made it to the Semifinals of the maiden West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone A Female Tournament hosted in Sierra Leone.

Senegal Female Team

At the Bo Stadium in Bo City, Senegal had a 2-1 victory over Liberia. Nguenar Ndiaye in the 18th minute and Ndeye Diakhate in the 33rd minute send Mali to the finals. Angeline Kieh’s 56th minute consolation goal wasn’t enough for Liberia to progress to the finals.

Mali Female Team

In Makeni City, Mali had a comfortable 4 – 0 win over Cape Verde at the Wusum Stadium. Aguissa Diarra had a brace for Mali in the first half, in the 30th and 42nd minutes, taking her goal tally to 7, the highest in the competition so far. Seynabou Sidibe’s second half brace took Mali’s scoreline to 4. She scored in the 55th and 88th minutes. Seynabou now has a total of 5 goals in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Mali have won all their matches in the tournament and they are yet to concede a goal. They have scored a total of 15 goals. Senegal are yet to loose a match but had already drew one and conceded 2 goals and have scored 6 goals, so far.

Cape Verde Female Team

Liberia and Cape Verde will now play for the Third Place position in Makeni on the 7th March 2020, at exactly 2pm, while Senegal and Mali will lock horns for the maiden WAFU Women’s Championship trophy, at the Wusum Stadium in Makeni at exactly 4pm.
