Senegal has secured 6 points in the West African Football Union Zone Female Tournament in Bo City as they defeated Cape Verde by two nil.
Senegal who defeated Guinea in their opener have already qualified for the semifinals as the outcome of their Match against Sierra Leone on Sunday will not affect their position at the top of the group ‘A’.
So far, Senegal has proven to be a strong contender for the golden trophy as they have played two games winning both including the player of the Match Awards for the two matches.
Mbayang Sow found the back of the net in the 36 minutes while Mama Diop’s thunderous shot made it two in the 67th minutes.
Haby Balde was awarded the player of the Match because of her outstanding performance in the mouth watering match this afternoon.
The second Match of the day which played between the Host Nation Sierra Leone and their neighbouring county Guinea ended in a goalless draw leaving Sierra Queens second in the table with 2 points from two games.
The only hope now left for the host is for them to defeat Senegal in their last Match which could put them 5 points behind Senegal who are comfortably occupying the top of the table with 6 points.
Guinea and Cape Verde have 1 point each which makes it will be very difficult for them to qualify to the next stage of the tournament.
The Player of the Match Award in that match went to Nene Hawa Conte of Guinea whose quality on the pitch was exceptional.
The competition will continue tomorrow in Makeni with Mali battling up against Liberia at 2 pm while Gambia will take on Guinea Bissau at 4 pm.
Fire works will returns to Bo on Saturday to honor the last fixtures.
