Mayoress Aki-Sawyer joins Lake Productions in distributing food to diasbles in Freetown

As Muslims around the world celebrate Eid ul Fitr, the Freetown City Mayor, Yvonne Aki-Sawyer joins Lake Productions SL Ltd in distributing deliciously cooked food to about 1,000 persons with disabilities in Freetown. The distributions took place in the west and central parts of the city, notably Lumley community, Lamina Sankoh Street, and many other locations across Freetown west.

The CEO of Lake Productions, Alhaji K. Tarawally aka Laj K explained tha this is part of his company’s social responsibility, giving back to the less privileged. “As we celebrate Eid today, we want to provide good food for the less privileged people who cannot afford it,” he said. Adding that his company has done similar donation to slums in the west of Freetown a month ago. Lake Productions company has helped in the campaign against COVID-19, despite being affected by the outbreak after investing millions of Leones to bring Nigerian superstar Kizz Daniel to Freetown, but was cancelled in March due to the COVID-19 precaution measures. Laj K said his company cannot sit back and watch the less privileged continue to starve, hence the reason behind the distribution of food to persons with disabilities.

Among the distributed items are cooked rice (foiled), water and cash targeting over 1,000 disable beneficiaries.

Gracing the occasion, the Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyer expresses her appreciation for the good gesture of Laj K and his company Lake Productions for reaching out to the city’s vulnerable communities. The Mayor further explained the work her Council has been doing to support the disabled persons in Freetown, but said they cannot do it all alone without the support of the public.

Receiving the food and cash on behalf of their colleagues, Alusine Kanu and Kadiatu Sillah, Chairman and Chairlady of the Street Disables respectively thanked Lake Productions company for the kind gesture in providing food for them. They also call on humanitarian organisations to help take them get out of the streets, amidst praises they shower the current Mayor for always working on their plight.

Her Worship the Mayor also seemingly looks forward to work or partner with Lake Productions in future events, as most of the company’s activities are based in Freetown.
