WAFU Updates: Mali progressed to Semifinals in Group B of the WAFU Zone A Female Tournament in Sierra Leone

The Mali national female football team has secured their place in the Semifinals of the ongoing West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A Female Tournament. Mali are currently leading Group B with 6 points and 9 goals, after a 3-0 win against Liberia in their second fixture played in Makeni City on the 28th February 2020. Goals were scored by Sendebu Sidibe (31st minute), Binta Diarra (43rd minute) and Aguissa Diarra (78th minute).

In another Group B result, The Gambia came from behind twice to whip struggling Guinea Bissau in a 5-2 win on Friday. Guinea Bissau opened the scoreline in the 4th minute by Tchaloda Mane, followed by an equaliser by Gambian forward Adama Tamba in the 7th minute, before Bissau took the lead in first half through Veva Te (44th minute).
The Gambians came from behind in the second half, from 2-1 to win 5-2. Gambian Adama Tamba put up a dominant performance, scoring 4 massive goals in the 7th, 48th, 66th and 74th minutes of the game, with Ola Buwuro adding to the score sheet in the 88th minute.

On the final Group B matches on Sunday 1st March 2020, Gambia, Liberia and Guinea Bissau will fight for a place in the Semifinals.
