Tens of millions of Leones have been raised so far. Morris posted some of the donations on social to ensure transparency.

This follows an announcement by the government of Sierra Leone for a 3-day nationwide lockdown as a possible way to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus and to also do contact tracing of the already confirmed 4 cases in the country. The lockdown commences midnight on Saturday 4th April 2020 and ends midnight on Tuesday 7th April 2020.

Speaking to this media, Morris believes that “there are set of people who may not be able to provide for themselves during this stay-at-home period,” and he feels the need to support them with whatever little he and his colleagues can raise. Morris is currently in the U.S, but the process is spearheaded locally by another artist Nasser Ayoub and team. The money is used to buy food stuffs like rice, sugar, milk, oil, onions, salt, pepper and other ingredients. According to Morris, “the target is to provide for at least 200 households considered to be less privileged.” He promised to support more people as they receive more donations.

Meanwhile, in Makeni, the Northern City of Sierra Leone, popular artiste Stuntman from the ‘Eclectic Music Group’ has also donated food stuffs to hundreds of street beggars along the streets of Makeni. Other Sierra Leonean celebrities are also believed to have done similar gestures unannounced to he poor. All the above goodwill supports are meant to ensure compliance from the less privileged who might go out in search of food in the streets during the stay-at-home period.
