Following the publication of the summary report from the Ethics Board of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Rodney Michael and others have been disqualified (declared ineligible by the Ethics Board) to contest the various positions they were nominated for in the forthcoming SLFA Elective Congress.

In the report released on the 25th March 2021, the Ethics Board declares that 4 out of 5 contestants for the position of President are eligible to contest. They include, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai (conditional), Thomas Daddy Brima, Isha Johansen and Kofi Deen Nyakoh (conditional). Which means the former Premier League Board Chairman Rodney Michael is disqualified from contesting.

This is the fourth time Rodney Michael has failed in SLFA elections. That is, Rodney ran once as Vice President in 2004, and as once as President in 2008 and failed in successive attempts against Team Nahim Khadi. He has also ran twice as President in 2013 and 2021 against Team Isha Johansen and failed in successive attempts. It’s quite unclear whether he will attempt in another future elections after failing in 4 attempts.

The report further revealed that NO candidate qualified for the Vice President 1 position. Meaning 3 out of 4 were declared ineligible (i.e Brima Mazola Kamara, Idrissa Margo Tarawally and Augustine Kambo), while Anthony Navo Jr. withdrew his candidacy. The position of the Vice President 1 is still vacant ahead of the SLFA Elective Congress.

Further, 1 out of 2 candidates for the position of Vice President 2 is eligible. Alie Badara Tarawallie is eligible to contest for the position of VP2, while Francis Amara Konuwa is ineligible and banned for 2 years.

For the Executive Committee position, all 6 candidates are eligible according to the report. They include: Kweku Lisk, John Dee Dissa, Abdul Kanasieu Rollings, Ramatulai Kamara, Mohamed Sorie Jalloh and Sheriff Barrie.

However, the summary report from the Ethics Board did not provide detailed reasons for the disqualification of candidates nominated for various positions.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Committee of the SLFA is expected to set a new date for the Elective Congress, after the initial date of February 27th elapsed.
