DJ Lawva features on the BBC 1Xtra Mix on BBC Sounds – the first Sierra Leonean to do so

Samuel Leverse, popularly known as DJ Lawva has been featured on the BBC 1Xtra mix on the BBC Sounds, hosted by regular anchor DJ Edu. This is the first time a Sierra Leonean DJ has been featured to mix or play on this mega platform.

DJ Lawva is a professional DJ, with long standing experience in mixing African music genres, especially Sierra Leonean sounds. He works for Radio Democracy 98.1FM in Freetown, and also doubles as the President of the Sierra Leone DJs Union (SLeDU). His spinning skills have attracted major media platforms across the world.

The BBC 1Xtra mix otherwise referred to as Destination Africa, plays the hottest songs out of Africa, courtesy of DJ Edu.

Hailing from Nairobi, Kenya, DJ Edu presents BBC 1Xtra’s Destination Africa show. He’s known for playing a wide variety of African genres, from Genge, soul and urban through to Coupe De Cale, Zouk, Lingala, Soukous, Nigerian hits, Egyptian hits and Afro beats.

DJ Lawva’s 30 minutes mix of the hottest Sierra Leonean sounds is a testament to his craftsmanship in the field of disc jockey. This is a major breakthrough for DJ Lawva and the entire Salone DJ fraternity.
