Popular Sierra Leonean rapper and CEO of the Red flag Movement (RFM), Alhaji Amadu Bah, better known as King Boss LAJ has been released from the Pa Demba Road Correctional Centre in Freetown on New Year’s Day (1st January 2024).

His long awaited release came as a result of a Presidential pardon, prerogative of mercy granted to him by His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio this morning. Many Sierra Leoneans, including the entertainment industry have been pleading for his release since he was arrested in June 2022.

The rapper has already spent over 1 year 6 months in prison for alleged robbery with assault. He has never been granted during his trials that attracted public interests.

With the presumed intervention of the Chief Minister Dr. David Sengeh and the Minister of Communications and Civic Education Chernoh Bah, and several others, the President was convinced to pardon the rapper.

Music fans are celebrating his release across Sierra Leone and beyond. LAJ is among 352 prisoners granted clemency by the President today.
