Sierra Leone Set To Welcome The Queen’s Baton Relay Ahead of The 2022 Commonwealth Games

Sierra Leone is set to Welcome the Queen’s Baton Relay on Friday October 22 2021 and it will be in the Country for 72 hours.


This disclosure was made by the Executive Members of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NOC-SLE) on Monday September 27 2021 during their second Annual General Assembly for Presidents of Sport Associations and Commissioners at the Henry Moore Hall, OlympAfrica Centre, Goderich in Freetown.


The President of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NOC-SLE), Dr Patrick Coker who chaired the second annual general assembly confirmed that the Queen’s Baton Relay which is the events that usher in the Commonwealth Games ‘Birmingham 2022’ will commence in Sierra Leone next month.


The Chairman of the Commonwealth Games in Sierra Leone said 2022 will be the end of the term of this present regime of the NOC.


According to the NOC’s Administrative Secretary General, the Queen’s Baton will arrive on the Friday 22nd October at the Lungi Airport and it will be received from the air craft by the Manager of the port who will then hand it over to the Paramount chief of the chiefdom and he will give NOC the Baton to make the journey to Freetown noting that the Queen’s Baton will be in Sierra Leone for 72 hours before it will be handed over to Ghana.
