Sierra Leonean rapper Yung Sal signs lucrative deal with Hejenah Entertainment record label

Talented Sierra Leonean rapper Abdul Salam Barrie, popular by his stage name as ‘Yung Sal’, has today (10th December 2021) signed a recording deal with one of Sierra Leone’s leading record label – Hejenah Entertainment. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of industry stakeholders and the media.

In his opening address, the CEO of Hejenah Entertainment, Quanmalo Tejan-Kella earmarked the essence of his label, which includes creating a platform for the development of Salone music, talent development, among others. He furthered that Hejenah was born out of a dream of 3 young Sierra Leoneans – Quanmalo Tejan-Kella (Queey Hejenah), Joseph Sedu (Nashito Kulala) Koroma and Ibrahim Bakarr (Rahim De Wizard) in 2014. He mentioned that the label has worked with top Sierra Leonean stars, including 441, Suga Lulu, Abizzy, etc. Quanmalo reiterates that the signing of Yung Sal is a continuation of the dream of taking Sierra Leone music to the world, through Hejenah Entertainment record label.

“I want to welcome Yung Sal and team to Hejenah Entertainment,” he said.

The Manager of Yung Sal, Amadu Lumeh also laments on the importance of working with Hejenah Entertainment label and their existing relationship, as he expresses happiness on the signing of his artiste.

“We are happy to be here to collaborate and partner with Hejenah.”
“It’s about aligning out dreams with someone who thinks alike,” he says.

He further informed the audience that Yung Sal is already working on an album under Hejenah Entertainment, which is a set to be released in 2022.

A new song title ‘Borku Sense (SABI SABI)’ was also premiered during the signing ceremony, and it was recorded and produced under Hejenah Entertainment record label.

Asked about the details of the contract, founding member of Hejenah Entertainment and popular producer, Joseph Sedu Koroma aka Nashito Kulala explains that they signed a very lucrative deal but couldn’t revealed the financial details. “All I can say is that the package was well packaged,” he jokingly said.

Prominent stars witnessed the signing ceremony, including DJ Kallox, DJ Lawva, singer Abizzy, rapper Boss LA, DJ Jesse, Ambassador Bash, DJ Prezo and a host of others.
