Brussels Airline Foundation donates sewing machines to the Female Correctional Centre training workshop constructed by FIFA’s Isha Johansen and Fatma Samoura

The newly commissioned training workshop at the Female Correctional Centre (Special Court Building) has received five (5) sewing machines from the Brussels Airline Foundation. The donation came after representatives from the Foundation visited the ultramodern workshop recently.

The handing over was done on Thursday 17th August, by representatives of the Foundation, Estelle Van Eeckhout and Charles Brichet, who felt proud to support the skills training programs of the centre.

The workshop, which was commissioned few months ago, was constructed by FIFA Council Member Madam Isha Johansen and FIFA Secretary General Madam Fatma Samoura, with the motive of ensuring that female inmates get the required skills and trainings before integrating back in society.

The project has, however, received institutional and moral support from FIFA and CAF under the Football For Reform project to provide FIFA and CAF’s football training programmes, including training of coaches, Match Officials and football administrators while in prison.

At the handing over ceremony of the donated sewing machines, Jenneh Amara Bangali and Aminata Adialin Bangura, representing Fashion For Change and Football For Reform, applauded the kind gesture by the Brussels Airline Foundation for their generous support and collaboration to give these inmates a brighter future.

On behalf of the custodians, the Deputy Director of the Sierra Leone Correctional Service Col. Sahr David Thomas Ngaujah also expressed his appreciation to the representatives from the Brussels Airline Foundation, noting that his institution and the inmates wholly appreciate the donation and look forward to more. Col. Ngaujah further lamented the centre’s encounters and relationship with Madam Isha Johansen and Madam Fatma Samoura has benefited the Centre so much.

The Football For Reform project will also construct an artificial turf pitch for inmates at the centre, with support from FIFA and CAF and Fashion For Change. Additional sewing machines and trainers are expected from Senegal very soon.
