KME partners with Africell to bring the 2021 Ecofest music festival in Freetown

At a press briefing this afternoon, Africell and the Kabaka Multimedia & Entertainment (KME) have announced yet another partnership for the successful staging of the regional musical festival – ECOFEST. This year’s event is slated for November 26th & 27 at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown.

The event will bring on stage, some of the biggest names in African music and comedy in a two-day festival.

The Media Manager of Africell John Konteh appreciates his company’s decision to sponsor the 2021 Ecofest. “Africell is proud to support this year’s Ecofest, an event that propels Sierra Leone in a positive light,” he says. According to him, Africell will provide space for advertising – for both radio and television, billboards, etc, E-ticketing – through Afrimoney, Sound System, stage, Lightning and decor for the two days event.

Thomas Marcus Berdie, the Head of Distribution Afrimoney, also expresses delights over the partnership and congratulates the KME management ahead of the show, as his company has set up a platform for the ease of sale of tickets for the forthcoming Ecofest.

“On behalf of management, I want to congratulate KME in advance of the event. We are so excited for this partnership and we are looking forward to a successful event,” he stated. Explaining further that people wanting to attend the Ecofest events will have to purchase their tickets through Afrimoney, by dialling *277# and choose from the options, after which a confirmation code will be sent to the person, to be used to collect a physical ticket after the 20th November. Tickets will be available at all major Africell POS across the country. “No tickets will be available at the Siaka Stevens Stadium, he emphasized.

Speaking on behalf of KME, the CEO and founder of ECOFEST Lawyer Abu Bakarr Turay popularly known as Kabaka appreciates Africell for their continuous support towards ECOFEST since its inception.

“Africell has always been there for us since the inception of ECOFEST in 2017.”They have provided the biggest sponsorship package this year in the subregion, not only for Sierra Leone,” he added.

Kabaka explains that this year’s ECOFEST will be divided into two days in order to allow the fullest performances from all performing acts. “Due to the huge number of performing acts, we have decided to divide the event into two, so that there will be enough time for them to perform and satisfy the audience.”

He further revealed that top Nigerian singers – both Mr. P and Rudeboy, formerly of P Square, will separately perform in the Day 1 and Day 2 of the Ecofest festival in Freetown respectively, along with other top African artistes and comedians.

About 40 Sierra Leonean acts will be featured in this year’s event.

He reiterates that “Ecofest is to create a platform that will make Sierra Leone an enviable destination for entertainment in Africa.”

Signing of the partnership climaxed the event, held at the Africell Board Room at Wilberforce, Freetown.
