As Leone Stars depart for Turkey, Head Coach Keister confirms 23 man squad for Comoros friendly

The Senior national football team has departed the Lungi International Airport for Istanbul Turkey on Wednesday evening. The delegation is made up of home based players, technical staff and officials from the SLFA and NSA. Leone Stars will engage Comoros in a friendly encounter on the 13th November in Turkey, with a possibility for another unconfirmed friendly outing against another African country. This disclosure was made by the Corporate Affairs Manager of SLFA Benson Bawoh in a Press Briefing held at the Africell Headquarters, at Wilberforce, as Africell continues to support the Leone Stars Afcon campaign to Cameroon 2022.

Leone Stars Head Coach John Edward Keister also confirmed that he has invited 23 players for the proposed friendlies in Turkey. The Leone Stars delegation comprises of 23 players and 22 officials

Captain Umaru ‘Zingallay’ Bangura, Rodney Strasser and George Kweku Davies are being recalled by Coach Keister.

Idriss Kanu who plays for Championship side Peterborough United was called up for the second time and he’s hoping to make his international debut.

Mohamed ‘Buya’ Turay, Mustapha Bundu, Alhaji ‘Andriano’ Kamara, Kelvin Wright, David Sesay, Alhassan Koroma and Alusine Koroma among players missing.

Steve Caulker, Issa Kallon and Sahr Morsey are still waiting for Fifa clearance to be eligible to play for Sierra Leone.
