DAUGHTERS OF SIERRA LEONE, an organization founded by a philanthropic diaspora Sierra Leonean, Rita Felleh Arah, has recently concluded series of skills training programs in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The drive was part of CEO Rita’s initiative and intentions to empower young Sierra Leoneans, especially women, to acquire skills in key business and vocational related areas, and how to monetize their knowledge. That’s a way of giving back to her country of birth after living abroad for almost 2 decades. Rita returned back to Sierra Leone to empower young Sierra Leoneans to be self reliant and contribute to national development.

Over 1000 participants benefited from training courses like make-up, hand crafts, digital marketing, online coaching, bridal fans, among others. Those trainings programs were hosted at the Miracle City Church in Ross Road Freetown, on the 17th and 18th May, and at the Milton Margai Campus in Goderich Freetown, on the 20th and 21st May 2021. Rita brought in trainers and facilitators from Nigeria, who trained participants in media, online coaching, bridal fan making, make-up and digital marketing. Other Sierra Leonean facilitators also trained participants in other vocational skills programs. All trainings were offered free of charge by the organization.
