Sierra Leone’s and Africa’s rap magnate has just released an award winning video for his decorated legendary song ‘STORY OF LUMUMBA’ on the 12th July 2020. The song has been on the lips of most hip hop fans and bloggers across Africa since it was released from the KISS THE THRONE album in April this year.

The BLACKLEO CEO Amara Denis Turay popularly known as Kao Denero featured one of Sierra Leone’s finest reggae artists – Block Jones.
There has since been positive reactions on social media on the lyrical prowess, legendary deliveries and the poetic skills of Kao Denero in his latest hit, ‘Story of Lumumba’.

The video concept well resonates with the concept of the song as directed by Kao Denero himself. In the video, he features popular musician Nasser Ayoub, Actress Pamela Thomas, Journalist Ibrahim Sorious Samura, an anonymous adult who plays the Patrice Lumumba role, a banker Ibrahim Kamara and many others. Lumumba was well portrayed in the video which makes an eye-catchy video loved by music fans.

The ‘Story of Lumumba’ is a classic song that reveals and celebrates the history and life of a martyr and a pan-Africanist, Patrice Lumumba, a great Congolese leader. According to Kao Denero, the ‘Lumumba story can be anyone of us’, drawing inferences to what many Africans are going through today – modern slavery.

From history, Africa’s quest for a pan African movement has met tough resistances from the West, using our African brothers to stage uprisings against the pioneers of those pan African moves. That was how Patrice Lumumba’s stay was cut short, same as Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, Thomas Sankara of Burkina Faso, and others.

“Patrice Lumumba was for a unitary Congo and against division of the country along ethnic or regional lines. Like many other African leaders, he supported pan-Africanism and the liberation of colonial territories. He proclaimed his regime one of “positive neutralism,” which he defined as a return to African values and rejection of any imported ideology , including that of the Soviet Union.”
An excerpt reads.

In his lyrics, Kao Denero highlighted how foreign powers are still making life difficult for Africans,
“… they trynna make it toxic like they did to Lumumba,
They eradicated my heroes na watin lef for do ba?”…

The video is currently trending on all digital platforms across Africa. This has continued to place Kao Denero on top of the African rap scene. He has been the most trending African rapper in 2020.
