The emergency of the digital age has opened endless opportunities for creativity and growth. Every day new contents are being created and shared on various digital platforms, from blogs to social media sites. In other parts of the world, media practitioners and entertainers are the biggest beneficiaries in this digital age. In Sierra Leone, there are few of such high profile digital platforms where content developers can share their products and be distributed to a wider audience.

Amidst these challenges, a new digital media company Afro Media Network has emerged with the utmost interest to use the digital space to promote contents ranging from entertainment (music videos, comedy skits, fashion shows, etc), sports, reality and regular TV shows, news, and more. This amazing platform was founded by a Humu Koroma, a Sierra Leonean online host, currently base in the United States of America.

“We stand for reality, we want to make a big impact when it comes to the world of online TV.”
“It is an online TV hub with a full content channel ready to take the world by a storm,” Humu told this media.
She continued that her company will also play a key role in youth employment. “We want to create employment opportunities for young Sierra Leoneans.”

Afro Media Network is a one-stop-shop platform for shows, entertainment contents, sports, news, and a variety of social contents in Sierra Leone and beyond. It will bridge the gap between traditional TV and online TV.

Humu Koroma, Owner and Founder of Afro Media Network

The CEO and founder of Afro Media Network – Humu Osainatu Abiodun Koroma was born in Sierra Leone and grew up in Germany, where she earned a Degree in Business Management. Humu worked as Flight Attendant at Ryanair in 2007, and joined Lufthansa as Supervisor two years later. She moved to the United States in 2010 and started working in a TV Channel. After a short period, she was enlisted in the US Military before joining Walmart as a Sitting Manager in 2013.

As a single mom, motherhood stopped her from doing many other things at the moment. She has a beautiful daughter named Amaris Koroma, who served as an inspiration for her.

Humu later decided to establish her own online show – talking about family, God and change on her Facebook page in 2019, where she was spotted and invited to work at Sierra Cast TV, an online TV platform. She worked there from October 2019 to May 2020, before she quitted on personal terms and set up her own platform, Afro Media Network.

Afro Media Network was launched in May 2020. The platform has introduced series of online programs, and has broadcast or distributed many Sierra Leonean contents to wider audience. Humu has a dedicated team of young professionals, including Omar Korleone Koroma – a partner and digital engineer, and owner of 232connect.

On behalf of the CEO, the company has done several donations back home, supporting vulnerable women and children as part of their corporate social responsibilities.

The management of Afro Media Network is encouraging contents creators, entertainers and other media outlets share their contents or materials to be broadcast on the Afro Media Network online TV – operational on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, so that they can reach more people online. In future, contents creators can get paid for their work, thereby creating a good business relationship. The platform is already running series of online shows, giving opportunities to different show hosts. More Hosts are encouraged to join the team.
