Popular Sierra Leonean artiste and Philanthropist – Joseph Cole aka Daddy Saj, has completed the rehabilitation of Christ Evangelistic Primary School, a 3 classroom school building located in Makassa, Lungi, Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, Portloko District. The upliftment of this school was done through his charity organization, the DADDY SAJ FOUNDATION.

The unfurnished and dilapidated school was discovered by Daddy Saj and his team in April 2021 following a visit to Lungi. They found school kids sitting on the floor and on stones as alternative for the nonavailability of school furniture. There were no windows or doors, and the school was totally unsafe to accommodate school pupils.

Because of his passion for quality education, the rapper decided to renovate the school under his foundation. Work started in around June 2021 and was completed and handed over to the authorities on December 7 th, 2021. The renovation including pavement, plastering and finishing, paint and supply of school furniture, etc.

The Christ Evangelistic Primary School currently has a capacity of 150 pupils, and it is serving over 5 surrounding villages.

The school was founded in 2005. Before this current structure, teaching and learning used to take place under a big mango tree in Makassa Village. All thanks to Daddy Saj for transforming this old structure into an edifice.

The Head Teacher of the school, Mr. Jesse Massaquoi commends Daddy Saj and his Foundation for what he referred to as “timely intervention” to salvage the prevailing challenges faced by the pupils and teachers in the past. He said the school was not a safe and conducive learning environment for kids, as it lacked the necessary facilities of a decent school, but with the intervention of the Daddy Saj Foundation, the status of the school was upgraded.

“The renovation has improved on the learning outputs of the pupils. We are grateful for this wonderful gesture by a Sierra Leonean with passion for education,” he stated.

Agnes Johnson is the Coordinator of the Daddy Saj Foundation who has been monitoring the work on the ground. She reiterates the importance of supporting education in Sierra Leone which has been Daddy Saj’s hallmark. Agnes noted that the Daddy Saj Foundation has embarked on several educational and other philanthropic works over the years. Ranging from the donation of educational materials to pupils at Kroo Bay, to the renovation of a hospital at Charlotte Village near Freetown, to the support to fire victims at the Wellington tanker explosion in East of Freetown, etc.

“The Daddy Saj Foundation will continue to do more for deprived and underprivileged Communities and persons as much as God bless us,” she says. Adding that the Foundation will also provide food to Don Bosco children on Christmas day.

SAJ has been a fervent supporter and Promoter of underprivileged Communities.
