U.S based Sierra Leonean rap vet Joseph Cole, popular on stage as Daddy Saj has donated learning materials to more than 150 pupils of the Kroo Bay community in Freetown, Sierra Leone, through his charity foundation, the Daddy Saj Foundation. The donated items include school bags, books, pencils, rulers, pens, erasers and face masks.

Daddy Saj has been in Sierra Leone few days ago for the burial ceremony of his mother, Rosaline Taylor, but he still finds the courage to lend a hand to the deprived kids in his motherland. The rapper grew up in the Kroo Town Road community, and he can still relate to the sufferings people are going through down the Kroo Bay community, the largest slum in Freetown. He therefore chose to give back to the vulnerable kids in that community, especially to boost them in education.

On behalf of the Kroo Bay community, Chief Pa Alimamy Marouf Conteh expressed his appreciation and thanks to Daddy Saj, whom he refers to as the son of the soil. He further told this MEDIA that his community is the poorest in the country, and therefore calls for the intervention of the government, development partners and other philanthropists to support them.

Daddy Saj is a successful Sierra Leonean artist who has had couple of hit songs in his career in the early 2000s. Prominent among his hit tracks include ‘Corruption’, ‘Che Che’, and more.

Daddy Saj explains how he couldn’t complete his high school in Sierra Leone due to lack of support, which forced him to do music. He left his country for the United States and felt the need to further his education, a sacrifice that earns him several certificates in health related courses, including a Masters Degree. Through his foundation, he is now helping poor kids to get quality education. His Foundation has done several donations in the past months to support vulnerable communities in Freetown during the COVID-19 pandemic. A similar donation will be made to the Charlotte community on Sunday 30th August 2020.

He further clarify that his support is devoid of any political intention, whatsoever, but was born out of the need and responsibility to help his home. He promised to be doing similar donations occasionally, all-year-round.
