Kolleh Town, a slum community in Freetown Sierra Leone, is the latest beneficiary from the Daddy Saj Foundation over the weekend. The Foundation boosted this abandoned community with Back-To-School supplies for kids in preparatory and primary schools, targeting 100 kids as beneficiaries.

Each kid received one back-to-school supply package containing 1 school bag/backpack, 12 exercise books/notebooks, pens, pencils and sharpeners. This donation sparked some excitements and jubilations from both the kids and their parents in the community. The Daddy Saj Foundation was founded by a popular Sierra Leonean music star Joseph Adolphus Cole better known as Daddy Saj, who is currently in the United States of America as a medical practitioner, while doing his music and running his philanthropic works back home.

In her opening statement, the chairperson of the program Nendaywa Thoronka, who is a member of Pride of Africa, describes Daddy Saj as ‘a lover and supporter of kids’, especially school going kids. She also mentioned that the famous music star from Sierra Leone has been supporting slum communities and disaster prone communities in Freetown through his Daddy Saj Foundation. Including his previous donations school bags and learning materials to the kids in the Kroo Bay Community, assorted materials to the victims in Mabayla and Wellington communities, medical support to a hospital in Charlotte Village, refurbishing a dilapidated school in Lungi and many more.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Kolleh Town Community, Chief Kaprie Alimamy Koroma expresses his delights and joy over the consideration of his community by Daddy Saj.

“We have been missing out on many opportunities in the past. This is the first time our community is benefiting from such a donation. May God continue to bless him for this wonderful gesture,” he said.Adding that, “This has solved one of the difficult burdens faced by parents to prepare their children for the reopening of schools.”

“I want to first thank Daddy Saj for his decision to remember my community, this is very timely.”

The CEO of Daddy Saj Foundation (Daddy Saj) said that the gesture to support children and the poor is as a result of his convenant with God โ€“ growing up as a poor kid who survived by the mercy of neighbours, who supported him while growing up.

“The Daddy Saj Foundation for me is a convenant, a promise I made to God. Growing up was difficult for me. I never had anyone to take care of me. My parents were poor, and neighbours had to help me throughout my life. Even when I got to Form 5 at the Model Secondary School, I wasn’t able to sit the GCE exams because I had nobody to pay for me.”

“But I have made a promise to God that if He (God) helps me to be educated and successful, I will always give back to those who are in the same position as I was. That is the will why Daddy Saj is doing these things. I’m not rich or wealthy, I just remember my convenant with God. I do this yearly. I have been doing charity since 2005 as Daddy Saj.”

“Since I came to America, it’s been hard for me to get education especially when I was over 30 years old without any foundation, but thank God today I have earned it all and I’m in a place where I can come back and continue to give.”

“I have been doing this for the past 3 years. Not just back to school items, I have refurbished schools and hospitals, and I continue to help individuals in different communities. Helping people with medical bills, school and university fees, and more. I’m mostly focused on children and other people trying to make a life. I’m trying my best, I cannot help everyone, but I’m doing what I can. “When I see children smiling is my best moment in life.”
