Mohamad Larkson wins the first ‘Be A Star’ singing competition

Mohamad Larkson Sesay emerged as the winner of the AYV and Africell’s maiden ‘Be A Star’ singing competition held at the Amphitheatre Complex at Fourah Bay College campus, Mount Auroel, Freetown on the 26th January 2020.

After a two month singing battle, 8 competitors made it to the finals last night. The event was well managed and well produced with proper stage setup and artworks. All competitors thrilled the audience but Larkson came out as the most outstanding singer.

Larkson took a cash prize of Le 50 Million. Consolation prizes were also announced by Africell for the 8 finalists, which include one year free calls and free data for internet browsing, and support towards studio recording of their songs and many other individual supports.

In most parts of the competition, Larkson would sing songs of popular Sierra Leonean rapper, Drizilik, but the kid had never got a support from Drizilik. He has never posted on social media nor did he attend to support Larkson, until he was declared winner. Fans of Larkson see this as a disregard from the rapper who claim his latest post on Facebook is not timely.

The presentation was done by the First Lady of Sierra Leone Madam Fatima Bio, who also pledged to support the runner-up on his education.

The event was graced by top celebrities and the media.
