Amid boisterous efforts to claim clean cross-border chances, the Sierra Leone National Men’s Cricket Team will engage their Nigerian counterparts in six friendly encounters prior to the Kigali ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers slated for October 31 through November 8, 2021.

The aim is to keep both teams in good shape as they set for the Kigali qualifiers, entering the pitch from different groups.

The Sierra Leone National Men’s Cricket Team will depart the country’s shores on October 16 to engage the Nigerians in the heart of Lagos City. The first T20 match will take place on October 18, with the last one expected on October 26.The two countries will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that spells out the responsibility of each nation in the Lagos tour.

While the matches will not count in the ranking, the ICC will provide match balls throughout the friendly effort.

As preparation intensifies, the Sierra Leone Cricket Association is appealing to Government, through the National Sport Authority (NSA), to fulfill its re-emphasized promise to finance all ICC-sanctioned tournaments as Cricket is one of the five sporting disciplines it has prioritized.

Before the National Women’s Team left for Botswana, the NSA had promised to expedite reimbursement of money expended during the female tour and was fully up to make available the promised funds for the male team, which is all set for the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup Africa Group D Qualifier in Rwanda.
