The Sierra Leone Female Producers (SLFP) have staged a campaign for the Government to enact the Film Policy. The advocacy around the enactment of this all important policy has been going on for a very long time, and filmmakers, especially the female wing, now want to see this policy passed and signed by our Parliament.

According to them, the Film Policy will help protect their works and serve as a guiding principle for all filmmakers. There have been cries over the film industry being undersupported by the government and the private sector.

In the latest developments, female film producers have come together to send a resounding message to the Government of Sierra Leone and the industry as a whole, advocating for the enactment of the long awaited FILM POLICY with the message below:

“WE LOOK UP TO YOU PAPA GOVERNMENT” 👏👏👏👏

“The Sierra Leone female producers is a female organization that comprises of the best female producers in filming currently in Sierra Leone. This organization is set to protect women in film and inspire young girls who might be interested in filmmaking.”

“The organisation is striving to paint a portrait of the movie industry, and ensure that women are thriving across the board because there are times when we need to be blunt and clear in telling Sierra Leone and the wider world about female producers whose work has been impactful in the film industry in Sierra Leone.”

“Radical inclusion, empowerment and protection is what the organization usher in a new era of femme forward collectiveness.”

“The organization has set up a campaign to advocate for the signing of the film policy that protects the film industry.”

“Film Policy Now! Film Festival Later!”

Recently, some filmmakers accused the Special Envoy on Investment and Entertainment Amara Turay Jalloh aka Kao Denero for allegedly sidelining the film sector over the music sector. But the Entertainment Ambassador Kao Denero quickly informed them that his office is planning to host a film festival soon. The filmmakers insist that they need the Film Policy to be enacted before hosting a Film Festival. With a Film Policy that protect their contents, they would not be hesitant to bring their movies to a film festival.
