CAF Makes Historical Strides With Plans to Launch Womenโ€™s Champions League in 2021

The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced that it will launch the African Womenโ€™s Champions League next year.

The decision comes after several months of tedious deliberations and continental debates as to how to incorporate a female club champions league across the African continent.

Key among the pioneers to endorse this historical change was Madam Isha Johansen- President of the Sierra Leone Football Association who is a CAF Executive Committee Member, doubling as the Chairperson of African Womenโ€™s Football.

Madam Johansen towards this achievement said โ€œI would like to congratulate the Womenโ€™s Department in CAF which stood firmly behind us in the belief that we must not only raise our game, but also change our narrative. These are abnormal times, but we must also strive to preserve the normal.โ€

CAF has said on their website that it will communicate the format and other details of the female club competition in due course.
