Fifa Council Member and CAF Executive Committee Member Isha Johansen was presented with the historical ancient Egyptian ‘ROSETTA STONE’ by Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sierra Leone.

In a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sierra Leone, Sherif Rifaat, Mdme Isha Johansen who sits on the football governing board of African Football (CAF) whose headquarters is in Cairo Egypt, exchanged ideas and expectations of how sports and in particular football is playing an increasingly important role in the social and economic growth of the African continent.

Youth and Gender empowerment using football as an implementing tool was a subject that both the Ambassador and Johansen were very strongly in favour of strongly championing.

Johansen emphasised how important it is to not underestimate the fact that the narrative of African football has changed with the likes of global icons like Mohammed Salah whose iconic rise has been not only his great talent on the pitch, but his humility and ability to Embrace Humanity through Football. She further cited the pride of Africa with Morocco’s performance at the last Fifa World Cup.

At the end of the meeting Ambassador Rifaat presented the Fifa Council & Caf Executive Member with the replica of the historic Rosetta Stone, founded by the French in 1799 in Rosetta; it bears inscriptions from the Council of Egypt to King Polemy V written in two languages in three scripts- demotic, hieroglyphic, and Greek.
