Infinitum Energy Group, a leading Singapore-based climate infrastructure company specializing in clean-energy project development in emerging markets, announced the appointment of Jonathan Caleb Rubin as the Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager. His role is pivotal in driving the success of the transformative $189 million Waste-to-Energy (WtE) project located in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Rubin is a consultant who’s worked on a range of marketing, communications, strategy, and research for companies and nonprofits, as well as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Impact advisory for private market investors in the US. His industry agnostic ESG background and international experience will help guide the projectโ€™s communication and messaging to a wide range of stakeholders in Freetown.

Infinitum’s pioneering project marks a significant milestone as the largest proposed private investment in waste-to-energy on the African continent. The project in Freetown, Sierra Leone, is designed to leverage cutting-edge waste-to-energy technology to address pressing issues related to waste management, public health, environmental conservation, and flood control. Additionally, it seeks to provide a sustainable energy supply to bolster a fragile energy grid. Furthermore, this visionary project will generate over 1,200 jobs and allocate 2% of its capital expenditure to a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program benefiting communities surrounding the project site.

Jonathan Caleb Rubin expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Freetown is an incredible city that is facing entrenched and growing challengesโ€”Infinitumโ€™s WtE project is an important piece of what it will take to remediate the environmental and human challenges here.”

The project’s scope includes the management of 30% of the waste generated in the western urban region and the generation of approximately 30 MW of clean renewable, 24/7 baseload power. This sustainable approach significantly reduces the reliance on costly fuel oil. Infinitum has diligently completed all required studies, presented its case before parliament, and now eagerly awaits the final agreements to propel this transformative initiative forward.

Infinitum Energy Group remains committed to pioneering sustainable solutions that address global challenges and drive positive change. For media inquiries or further information, please contact:
