Salone Messenger’s CEO Sallu Kamuskay shares incredible insights from the DCN Global Forum in Zambia

Sallu Kamuskay, journalist and founder of Salone Messenger, one of the leading digital media platforms in Sierra Leone, was among dozens of media personalities, professionals and influencers from over 40 countries who converged in Lusaka, Zambia for the maiden edition of the DCN Global Forum. The theme of this hybrid event focuses on “Digital Revolution: Fostering Resilience and Development in Africa”.

Sallu spoke about ‘How Tradition and Innovation Influence African Storytelling in The Digital Age‘. After returning from this amazing gathering, Sallu shares this insight on the event:

“In Lusaka, Zambia, I had the opportunity to share my incredible journey as a storyteller using smartphones with over 130 people, including digital professionals, influencers, and thought leaders from diverse fields, representing 40 countries worldwide. The event took place in a hall at the Bintumani Hotel in Zambia and hundreds more joined via streaming platforms. I spoke about how tradition and innovation influence African storytelling in the digital age.”

“I shared stories about the incredible people and beautiful country that we are. I noted that we are not only known for war, Ebola, and injustice, but also for our beautiful beaches and Sierra Leonean who built a messaging App that went viral, (Hassan Hafiz Bakarr-Kanu Sr.) Sierra Leoneans solving problems from trash and more. I explained that our work at Salone Messenger, telling these incredible stories using smartphones, is inspired by Mobile Journalism Africa.”
