SLFA ENDS TWO-DAY INDUCTION SEMINAR FOR NEWLY APPOINTED COACHES

The Sierra Leone Football Association has yesterday Tuesday September 9, 2020 successfully ended a two-day symposium and induction seminar for 48 newly appointed National Teams Coaches and Technical Staff.

The participants (mixed-gender) benefitted a lot from several expert facilitators who delivered lectures on different areas like Media, Sports Medicine, Sports Administration, Work Ethics and many more.

Miniter of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh

The seminar was climaxed with a panel of discussion on which the Present Sports Minister Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, former sports Minister Ahmed Khanou, Executive Director National Sports Authority Dr. Kenneth Brima, BBC Sport Correspondent Mohamed Fajah Barrie, Sports Medicine Expert Dr. Songor Koedoyoma and Female Football Legend Musu Pelé Bangura were panelists. The discussions were meant to provide answers to the questions, ”WHY HAVE WE NOT BEEN DOING SO WELL IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS?” and “HOW DO WE BETTER THE PERFORMANCE OF OUR NATIONAL TEAMS?” Interesting and frank opinions were put forward by all panelists, which has led to the establishment of a clear pathway going forward.

Another very important session was the presentation done by the FIFA and CAF Match Commissioner Mr. Prince Sa’Quee who clearly demystified the role of a Match Commissioner. Mr. Sa’Quee, in his presentation, guided the Coaches and Technical Staff on how to handle different match situations especially at protocol meetings.

Chris Kamara, General Secretary, SLFA

The SLFA General Secretary Christopher Kamara in his closing remarks expressed great satisfaction over the “successful end” of the induction seminar which many, including the Sports Minister Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, have openly described as “novelty and a step in the right direction” in the development of the country’s most loved sport. ”I feel very elated to have witnessed this knowledge sharing exercise and I hope everything we all have learnt in this two-day seminar will be put into practice for the benefit of Sierra Leone Football,” Kamara added.

“This is indeed the Dawn of A New Era”, Said one of the the participants, Veteran Coach Abdul Garicha Sesay who currently serves as Technical Coordinator for the National Home Bassed Team- Men (U-23). “I would like to thank the President, Executive Committee and Staff of SLFA for such a praiseworthy venture. With this present result oriented football leadership, I can see a very bright future for our National Teams.” The former Leone Stars Head Coach further said.

The newly appointed coaches now await, with high level of determination, the lifting of governments ban on football activities to commence training in preparation for pending competitions.
