A young Sierra Leonean Football Coach Daniel A. Conteh has ‘called it a day’ with his former club F.C Johansen as he heads to a First Division club in Freetown, Real Mack Football Club. After a 7 year spell at the Premier League Club where he served as Assistant Coach 2, Assistant Coach 1 and later Caretaker Coach for nine months, Daniel thinks it is prudent to make a swift to a more challenging task, that is, promoting a First Division club to the Premier League as he did for just promoted side Mount Auroel SLIFA F.C.

The task is daunting and Daniel is aware of that, he loves taking challenges and prove his prowess. It is however unclear how long will he stay at Real Mack FC.

Coach Daniel was the interest of top Premier League clubs across the country, but he surprisingly chose to trade with a lower league club.

In his farewell message to the club (F.C Johansen), this young tactician (Daniel) recounts his seven years journey with the club. He also extended his appreciation to the club and staff for the unique opportunity offered, and all those who have played immense roles and inspired his career to success.

Here is his farewell message to F.C Johansen:

FAREWELL MESSAGE

“Today is the beginning of a new chapter in my life after spending seven years in the training ground, dugout and dressing room with FC Johansen as a Coach after I was scouted by Mohamed Ola Marah and John Keister.”

“With a retrospect, my FC Johansen story started with an episode which created the platform for me to serve as Assistant Coach 2 who is charged with the responsibility to take down statistics at training sessions and matches. From there, I began to chase my dream at the Club.”

“I was encouraged by my mentor and immediate boss John Keister to utilise the learning environment which the Club had created.”

“His vast knowledge in the game has helped me a lot in developing my tactical acumen. For I will be forever be grateful to a man who sees my ability and makes me a better coach. From a Statistician to an Assistant Coach 1 and later ascended to be a Caretaker Head Coach for nine Months.”

“This journey has been classed as a bitter-sweet experience that is full of excitement, stress, emotions, celebrations, anxiety, remarkable opportunities and trials and tribulations.”

“Significantly, having secured several local and international football Coaching Certificates and Club honours, may I emphatically describe my journey as Successful one. Well, there are many more steps to climb. I am moved by the number of players I have been able to transform as better professionals.”

“As an Assistant Coach, it was an honour to win the 2016 Leocem FA Cup and also to participate in the CAF Champions League in 2017. For me, it was never a mistake to be part of the FCJ Family. The Club will forever remain in my heart.”

“As I take a deep breath, tears running through my eyes, for I will like to inform everyone more especially Fans and supporters of FC Johansen and my followers that I have left the Club on a mutual consent.”

“It is very difficult to leave a Club that you so cherish but it’s time for me to take up a new challenge. I believe that the time has come for me to start a new chapter in my life and I implore the fans and my followers to understand me.”

“Hence, I want to use this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to the Club for giving me the opportunity to be part of the Club’s rich history.”

“To the founder and Owner, Madam Isha Johansen who has been very much committed to see the growth and development of my Coaching Career, I still believe in your dream to make young people actualizing their potential and to develop the beautiful game called football in your motherland. I pray that God will continue to guide, protect and elevate you.”

“The Sierra Leone Premier League youngest Club Chairman, CEO Malik and Sir Arne Johansen were very key figures in the second half of my seven years stay at the Club.”

“Notably, I wouldn’t have been at this level of my Career without the support of the Head Coach, Abdulai Bah, Technical staffs, Players and Executive members of the Club. During the moments we shared together, I learned a lot from you Mr. Bah. You opened the space for me to make my input with regard the development of the players and the Club as a whole.”
